The Difference Between Fashion and Style
No one ever got anywhere good by overdoing it. Dressing yourself is no different, and there’s so many fashion victims lying along the road of good taste, dressed in something far too many years young for them or attempting to make a bad look that never deserved a place off the runway work in the suburban mall. Worst of all, people actually pay an arm and a leg for designers to make them look not just okay, but downright bad.
If your budget is stricter than that of the real housewives, or you’re not a size zero, that’s even more reason to learn to dress well. Living well is the best revenge, and showing the world that fashion isn’t just the elite stomping grounds of a select few is a noble mission for many women. Furthermore, most of the ladies who are known today as tastemakers started out with very little money and still managed to impact the whole country with their distinct style. If that’s not an encouraging reason to get going at dressing yourself better, then I simply don’t know what is.
One simple thing to remember that will really take you places is this: monochromatic isn’t just for goths and Sprockets. There’s a reason why most of the timeless moguls of the fashion industry are seen in monochromatic attire, and it’s not because they’re so burnt out on designing everyone else’s clothes that they threw on their same black suit or dress.
